Look!! A Jacaranda blossom fell on my head! When they first started to blossom, Auntie Karen told me the legend about them. It says that if a Jacaranda blossom fell on your head, one of two things will happen. The first one is that if you're a student at the time, you'd pass your exams, and if you're not studying, you'd most probably fall in love! So since I'm not studying... *sigh* - I really do miss that sweet little Emily! This was the original picture taken outside Auntie Karen's home, very early one morning. It almost looked like snow - but these Jacaranda trees are just too beautiful for words! I just love the popping sound they make when you step on them. When the cars drive down the road, it's a popping parade!!
Here is another picture of the Jacaranda tree outside Auntie Karen's classroom - beautiful huh? But I tell you it's dangerous driving with her - she can't keep her eyes on the road with all the Jacaranda trees lining the streets. I had to cough a few times to get her to get me home safely!
Talking about her class... she took me to school one day to meet the children. Here is a picture of me listening to one of her lessons - just look at all the friendly faces! There are 38 children in the class, most of them from Shoshanguve - a small town north of Pretoria.
Here is another one of us in front of the school hall - they were very busy and talkative and I almost didn't get a chance to tell them all about my journey. But when I started talking - they couldn't hear enough of it!
Auntie Karen said she still has a film or two to develop, and will post the best part of my African trip within the next 2 days! There are some behind the scenes pictures I asked her to add too. Can't wait to share them with you all!
