:: MY STORY ::
I'm Karen, 40-something, living each day trying to be the person God wants me to be. Living in Centurion, South Africa, and working full-time at Kaleidoprax.
Since October 2004 when I decided to go back to teaching, I haven't had much time for Daisy Dreams. I neglected my site due to a heavy workload at school, but the drawing bug has been nibbling again the last few months! So I'm refreshing things a bit, and will try to have a few new updates every now and then.
This is how Daisy Dreams was born, and how I feel about drawing :)
Words to explain the enjoyment I've experienced from this special gift of drawing I received from God doesn't quite tell the whole story of what it has meant to me. I always loved beautiful graphics, and when I discovered it on the internet late in December 2000, a whole new world opened for me! I started making my own graphics about 6 months later, and just look at how things have grown since then! When I look back on how it changed my life, how God took away all the hurt and made me forget the disappointments of the past, I'm in awe.
Drawing fills my whole being with joy! I thank God for opening my eyes, guiding my hand, and showing me what is possible if you allow Him into your life.
I was married for 7½ years, and every day I'm more and more convinced that the only thing that saved my life after the divorce, was my mother's prayers. At the time, I was teaching Maths at a rural school in the North West Province of South Africa. Very scared, terribly alone, and heartbroken.
Since then (6 years ago!) I left the teaching profession, moved to a different town, (same one as my family!) and worked as a Marketing Consultant in the IT Field for a few months. During the time I realized that I wasn't doing what I really wanted to.
In January 2002 I drew my first collection, and it was more successful than I ever thought possible! Through the motivation of a few special friends and my family, I decided to spend all my time on Daisy Dreams.
It was an incredible leap of faith. I was so scared that I wouldn't have been able to survive financially, but since then, my income steadily increased. God provides me with more business every day! If it wasn't for His grace, mercy and overwhelming love, I wouldn't have been able to fly solo up till now.
This all was written about 6 years ago. Since then so much has changed, but a lot has stayed the same as well. I'm not drawing any more since I have a very demanding (but fulfilling!) job in the private sector.
Thanks so much for wanting to know about me, and reading about my life.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
